I have been diagnosed with a brainstem glioma grade 4, which is the most aggressive form of brain cancer. The official diagnosis is diffuse midline glioma,H3 K27M mutant.
On the second of May 2016, three days after the tumor was detected, I underwent an operation at the Erasmus MC hospital in Rotterdam. A week later we heard that the tumor was malignant.
On the 30th of May I started with the daily radiation therapy in Rotterdam as well as Chemotherapy, administered in the form of a medicine called Temozolomide. Both therapies will be continued until the 13th of July when the radiation therapy will come to an end. Luckily I still have free time on the weekends.
Should we follow the traditional Western treatment of chemotherapy my chance of survival is estimated at 2 to 5%. The treatment which I will be receiving at Dr. Burzynski's clinic will hopefully succeed in stopping the growth of the tumor. The hospitals in The Netherlands can only offer me more chemo to ‘buy some time’. Dr. Burzynski's treatment could save my life.
